15 Arrested in China-Malaysia Drug Syndicate Bust, 108 kg of Meth Seized
Polda Metro Jaya has uncovered a narcotics distribution network for crystal methamphetamine involving syndicates from Malaysia, China, and Medan. More than a dozen suspects have been arrested. “This is the uncovering of a methamphetamine distribution syndicate with networks in Malaysia, China, and Medan entering Jakarta. It took place across six locations with the arrest of 15 suspects,” said Polda Metro Jaya Narcotics Director Senior Commissioner Ahmad David in Jakarta on Friday (26/6/2026). The suspects acted as dealers and couriers. Police seized a large quantity of methamphetamine. “The total amount of evidence weighed 108.37 kilograms,” he stated.
This was announced during a Polda Metro Jaya press conference revealing three case clusters. For the narcotics cluster, there were 3,800 cases with 5,196 individuals named as suspects. David added that the Polda Metro Jaya Narcotics Directorate also dismantled a home industry producing ecstasy pills linked to a Chinese network. The perpetrators used an apartment as the production site for ecstasy. “The uncovering of a clandestine ecstasy laboratory, this was in Jakarta by a Chinese network,” he said.
Police arrested two suspects. The first suspect’s role was providing precursor materials, facilities, and production equipment for ecstasy. The second suspect assisted in pressing and making the ecstasy pills. Police seized evidence in the form of 653 ready-to-distribute ecstasy pills and 16,695 grams of ecstasy powder. The perpetrators disguised the apartment used as the production site. “The modus operandi of the perpetrators was to disguise an apartment in Jakarta as a place of residence, while using it as a site for production and storage of precursors or raw materials for making narcotics,” he explained.
David stated that police also arrested 28 suspects acting as dealers and couriers for a Medan-Jakarta syndicate across 16 locations. Officers seized 220 kilograms of cannabis as evidence. “The sixth disclosure is a cannabis narcotics case involving a Medan-Jakarta network across 16 locations. We arrested 28 suspects, both dealers and couriers, with a total of 220 kilograms of evidence seized,” he said.
