Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 1 Jakarta recorded 148,878 people leaving Jakarta by train during the extended International Labour Day (May Day) holiday from 30 April to 4 May 2026. “During that period, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta served 148,878 departing passengers and 145,259 arriving passengers. He stated that the peak departure flow occurred on 30 April 2026 with 37,142 passengers, followed by 1 May 2026 with 34,707 passengers. Meanwhile, the return flow began on 3 May 2026 with 37,040 passengers arriving and continued on 4 May 2026 with 34,661 passengers. “This movement shows a well-distributed mobility pattern throughout the long holiday period,” said Franoto. From the service side, departing passengers were dominated by economy commercial class with 63,137 people, followed by executive class with 56,350 people, and the rest in economy PSO. Then, Gambir Station had 45,818 departing passengers and 46,099 arriving passengers, while Bekasi Station had 18,832 departing passengers and 18,986 arriving passengers. The destination cities in Central Java and East Java remain the primary choices for customers, including Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Bandung, and Purwokerto. “In addition to being economic activity centres, those regions also become favourite destinations for holiday trips,” said Franoto.
