142 Red and White Village Cooperatives in Demak Regency Ready for Operation
A total of 142 Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDKMP) in Demak Regency, Central Java, are ready to operate after supporting facilities and infrastructure were declared ready, said Lieutenant Colonel Arm Donny Romansah, Commander of Military District Command 0716/Demak.
"The 142 cooperatives that are ready for operation have been prepared so they can commence as soon as there are implementation guidelines from the central government," he stated in Demak on Friday.
He explained that the total number of KDKMP built in Demak Regency is 165 villages out of a total of 249 villages/wards in the regency. Of that number, 157 cooperatives have been 100 per cent completed, whilst only eight are still in progress. He expressed optimism that all would be finished in the near future.
According to Donny, the 142 village cooperatives prepared for operation have been equipped with supporting facilities, ranging from human resources readiness, electricity networks, internet networks, furniture, shop shelving, cashier systems, computers, to transport vehicles.
"Equipment and facilities have been moved into the cooperative buildings. Vehicles are also still in the distribution process, so it is not yet 100 per cent," he said.
Regarding the operational schedule, his team is still awaiting official direction from the central government. "If not by the end of July 2026, it is likely they will begin operating in early August 2026," he noted.
Meanwhile, he said there are still 84 villages that have not been able to provide land for the construction of KDKMP. These villages are spread across several sub-districts in Demak Regency. "Most are still in the process of finding suitable land for the construction of cooperatives," he added.
The Demak Regency Government, together with the Indonesian National Armed Forces, continues to provide assistance so that all cooperatives can be completed and operational soon to support the strengthening of the village and ward economy.
