One hundred and forty-two primary schools (SD) in Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), will use new names. This name change is confirmed to take effect before the 2026 New Student Admission System (SPMB). “In accordance with the Mayor’s regulation decree, this new name replacement will take effect on 22 June. And of course, these school names will be reported to the centre,” said the Head of the Mataram Education Office (Disdik), Yusuf, when confirmed on Tuesday (7/4/2026). Yusuf stated that the name change for the 142 schools in Mataram is being carried out to equalise schools that previously only focused on using names from three districts, namely Ampenan, Mataram, and Cakranegara. “The old school names will still be written, but in parentheses. For example, SDN 2 Mataram will be written in parentheses as SDN 1 Cakranegara,” Yusuf explained. Yusuf mentioned that the budget for changing the school name writing will be directly allocated by each educational unit. “It will be adjusted in the BOS funds. (The budget is likely) not up to (Rp 10 million). We will also control those schools, if any exceed the estimated price,” he said. As information, the Mataram Education Office has changed the names of 142 schools, and they will be established before the SPMB. Some of the schools that have now changed names include SDN 2 Cakranegara becoming SDN 10 Mataram, SDN 20 Cakranegara becoming SDN 50 Mataram, SDN 34 Ampenan becoming SDN 100 Mataram, SDN Model Mataram becoming SDN 142 Mataram, and many more.
