140-Strong Joint Security Patrols in Jakarta Target Thefts, Robberies and Street Clashes
Jakarta – A total of 140 joint personnel from the TNI, Polri and Satpol PP conducted security patrols in several areas of Jakarta in the early hours of Saturday, 23 May 2026. The patrol began at Mapolda Metro Jaya about an hour before midnight on Friday, 22 May 2026. At the scene, the activity started with a briefing by Kanit Waster Ditpamobvit Polda Metro Jaya, Kompol Muhammad Huda, in front of the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation building. Upon reaching in front of the Polri’s Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim) Building, officers then split up to continue patrols to several high-risk crime points in South Jakarta. Meanwhile, another team moved from Mapolda Metro Jaya to West Jakarta to conduct patrols until morning. Huda said the patrols were routine activities conducted as a form of securing the environment from criminal acts. ‘This is a routine activity that is stepped up to anticipate C3: curat (theft with aggravating circumstances), curas (theft with violence), and curanmor (motor vehicle theft). Also to anticipate crowd fights tonight,’ he said to reporters at Mapolda Metro Jaya, on Friday. Earlier, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin of the Directorate of General Crime at Polda Metro Jaya detailed that officers had patrolled 27,915 times in April 2026. A Kompolnas member, Irjen Pol. (Purn) Ida Oetari, reminded that police should not focus solely on 3C crimes, but also other crimes. ‘Most importantly, so that the energy of Polda Metro Jaya is not drained by focusing on only this one area; curat, curas, or curanmor, but there are other criminal acts that should be the focus of Polda Metro Jaya,’ she said at a press conference on Friday.
