140 foreign names to be changed
JAKARTA (JP): One hundred and forty real estate developers have agreed to change the foreign names of their projects to Indonesian, an executive of the Indonesian Real Estate Association said.
The name changes will be publicly announced on Aug. 10, Enggartiasto Lukita, the chairman of the association, told reporters on Wednesday.
Sunter Paradise, which is owned by PT Super Progress, for example, will be changed into Nirwana Sunter Asri, Bogor Lakeside by PT Sejahtera Ekagraha/PT Asia Pacific Pratama into Danau Bogor Raya, Peninsula Garden by PT Pudjiadi Prestige Ltd. into Perumahan Taman Peninsula and Parkview Apartment by PT Multipanen Kotrindo into Apartemen Slipi.
The 140 are part of 550 real estate developers that use foreign names in Greater Jakarta, which covers Tangerang, Bekasi and Tangerang, he said.
The name change is in response to the government's campaign on the proper use Indonesian. All developers are urged to change their foreign names, except those with a patent, by Aug. 17, when Indonesia celebrates its 50th independence day. (31)
