14 Riau Candidates Pass Regional Police Academy Selection, Urged to Uphold Integrity
The Riau Regional Police (Polda Riau) announced that 14 young men and women from Riau Province have successfully passed the regional selection for the 2026 Police Academy (Akpol). Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan urged all successful candidates to maintain their integrity and discipline in order to pass the next stage of selection at the national level.
Inspector General Herry Heryawan expressed his appreciation to all participants who completed the entire selection process with enthusiasm and sportsmanship. He noted that passing the regional level is the beginning of a long journey to serve the nation and state.
“You are the hope of your families and the hope of the Indonesian National Police to become future leaders of the institution. However, remember that this is only the first step. The journey is still long and requires discipline, integrity, and hard work,” he said in a statement on Saturday (27/6/2026).
The Police Chief also motivated participants who did not succeed, urging them not to be discouraged. He asked all participants to accept the results gracefully and use the experience as motivation to improve their abilities and try again in the future.
He also stressed the importance of building good character amidst increasingly dynamic times. He noted that future challenges for the police force involve not only law enforcement but also technological developments, social changes, and environmental awareness.
“Keep learning, think good thoughts, speak good words, and do good deeds. Be a person of integrity and always be grateful to God Almighty,” he added.
On the same occasion, the Head of Human Resources for the Riau Regional Police, Commissioner Boy Jeckson Situmorang, explained that the entire selection process was conducted based on the principles of being clean, transparent, accountable, and humanist (BETAH), with both internal and external oversight systems in place.
The results were announced during an open session for determining graduation to the integrated health examination stage for the 2026 Police Candidate Recruitment, led by the Riau Police Chief at the Tribrata Hall, 5th Floor of the Riau Regional Police Headquarters, on Friday (26/6/2026). The 14 successful candidates consist of 13 male cadets and 1 female cadet who will represent Riau Province.
These candidates have passed the regional-level selection organised by the Riau Regional Police and will now proceed to the central-level selection at the Police Academy for the 2026 fiscal year.
The session was conducted openly and transparently, attended by the Riau Police Deputy Inspector for Supervision, Commissioner Prabowo Santoso, the Head of the Human Resources Bureau, Commissioner Boy Jeckson Sihombing, and other key officials of the Riau Regional Police.
The session also involved external supervisors from local government, academia, professional organisations, and community leaders. The presence of these external supervisors is part of the National Police’s commitment to ensuring a clean, objective, accountable, and humanist recruitment process.
With the conclusion of the open session, the 14 best candidates from Riau, comprising 13 male cadets and 1 female cadet, officially carry the mandate to represent the province in the central-level selection for the 2026 Police Academy. They are expected to demonstrate their best performance and uphold the good name of Riau Province in the national selection process, ultimately becoming young police officers who are professional, modern, and trusted by the community.
