14 New Suspects Named in Little Aresha Daycare Child Abuse Case in Jogja

Police have named new suspects in the alleged abuse case at the Little Aresha daycare. A total of 14 caregivers and employees have been designated as new suspects. “That is correct, there are 14 new suspects,” said Jogja Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Kompol Risky Adrian, when contacted by reporters on Saturday (4/7/2026). “Previously, there were 17 witnesses required to report. From that group, we have named 14 as suspects. These 14 new suspects are the caregivers,” he continued. Risky has not yet provided details of the new suspects’ names. Investigators have scheduled the summoning of the 14 individuals as suspects. “The summoning of the 14 individuals as suspects has been scheduled for Monday,” he concluded. Previously, 13 people had been named as suspects and detained. They are currently in detention and have undergone a reconstruction. This brings the total number of suspects to 27. It was previously reported that the Jogja Police uncovered horrific treatment by caregivers towards children entrusted to the Little Aresha Jogja daycare. The children were tied up from the moment they arrived at the daycare and were only released when their parents came to pick them up. Jogja Police Chief, Kombes Eva Guna Pandia, stated that the children received inhumane treatment from the caregivers. Without going into exhaustive detail, she revealed some of the caregivers’ actions. “This inhumane treatment included placing them in an overloaded room with very minimal air circulation. They were tied using cloth fashioned like rope, and bound to the door,” said Pandia during a press conference at the Jogja Police Headquarters on Monday (27/4/2026). Jogja Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Kompol Riski Adrian, added that data obtained showed 103 children were registered at the Little Aresha daycare. However, only 53 children have been declared victims based on preliminary examinations. “We looked at the data, the foundation’s data, for this academic year. The number of confirmed victims is still 53 children,” Adrian explained. He noted that the children received the same treatment. Visum results for several children revealed bruises on their wrists or ankles. “So far, we have conducted visum examinations on three children. On average, the injuries are on the wrists. This means the injuries are likely from the rope bindings,” he stated. Adrian added that the children were tied up from the time they arrived at the daycare until just before their parents picked them up. The bindings were only removed at certain times, specifically during meals and bathing. “They were tied from the morning. Later, before eating, they would be dressed and photographed to send documentation to the guardians. The bindings were only released during bath time and meal time,” Adrian revealed.
