14 New Suspects Named in Little Aresha Daycare Abuse Case, Including Carers and Security Guard

Fourteen new suspects in the abuse case at Little Aresha daycare in Yogyakarta underwent questioning today. The new suspects consist of ten carers, two administrative staff, a security guard, and one household staff member.

“The 14 suspects are still being examined,” said Iptu Apri Sawitri, head of the Women and Children Protection Unit at the Yogyakarta City Police Criminal Investigation Unit, when met at the Yogyakarta City Police headquarters on Monday (6/7/2026).

Apri stated that the alleged criminal acts committed by the carers are similar to those of the carers previously named as suspects. “The carers are the same as the previous ones. We previously named 11 carers as suspects, and now there are 10 more, making a total of 21 carers. These carers range from the baby class up to the kindergarten class at Little Aresha daycare,” Apri said.

As previously reported, police officially named 14 new suspects in the Little Aresha daycare case. The 14 individuals, who previously held witness status, include carers, administrative staff, household staff, and a security guard.

“The 14 people consist of ten carers, two administrative staff, one security guard, and one household staff member,” explained Yogyakarta City Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Kompol Risky Adrian, when contacted on Sunday (5/7/2026).

Adrian said the naming of the 14 suspects was carried out following a case review on Thursday (2/7). From that case review, investigators identified criminal elements in the actions of the 14 individuals.

It is understood that the 14 individuals were part of a group of 17 witnesses who were subject to mandatory reporting. Adrian noted that for the remaining three individuals, investigators have not yet found evidence of criminal conduct.

“From the case review, the participants were convinced that of the 17 people, only 14 had committed criminal acts. So, we see there are criminal acts for which these 14 people must be held accountable,” Adrian explained.

“As for the other three, we have not yet found criminal elements in their actions. Their position is that they are part of the foundation. The three of them were at the kindergarten. The kindergarten is located at the front,” he added.
