14 New Suspects in Little Aresha Daycare Child Abuse Case to Be Questioned Tomorrow
Police have officially named 14 new suspects in the abuse case at the Little Aresha daycare. The 14 suspects are scheduled to be questioned on Monday (6/7).
"The summons for the 14 individuals as suspects has been scheduled for Monday," explained Yogyakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Kompol Risky Adrian, when contacted on Sunday (5/7/2026).
The 14 new suspects comprise caregivers, administrative staff, a security guard, and a household worker.
"Of the 14 people, 10 are caregivers, two are admin staff, one is a security guard, and one is from housekeeping," Adrian clarified.
Adrian stated that the 14 suspects were named following a case review on Thursday (2/7). During the review, investigators determined that there were criminal elements to the actions of these 14 individuals.
It is understood that the 14 individuals were part of a group of 17 witnesses who were previously required to report regularly. Adrian noted that for the remaining three individuals, investigators have not yet found any criminal elements in their actions.
"From the case review, the participants were convinced that of the 17 people, only 14 committed criminal acts. So, we see that there are criminal acts for which these 14 people must be held accountable," Adrian elaborated.
"For the other three people, we have not yet found any criminal elements in their actions. Their position is, you see, this is a foundation. The three of them are actually at the kindergarten. The kindergarten is located in front," he added.
Regarding the specific criminal elements committed by the 14 new suspects, Adrian was not yet willing to provide details, citing the need for further investigation. They have been sent summons letters to appear as suspects on Monday (6/7).
"What I mean is, I can reveal that on Monday. These people haven’t been questioned as suspects yet. I’m concerned about overstepping the investigation process," he concluded.
With this latest development, the total number of suspects in the child abuse case now stands at 27. As previously reported, Yogyakarta Police revealed the horrific treatment of children entrusted to the Little Aresha daycare. Children were tied up from the moment they arrived until they were picked up by their parents.
Yogyakarta Police Chief, Kombes Eva Guna Pandia, stated that the children suffered inhumane treatment from the caregivers. Without going into exhaustive detail, she disclosed some of the practices.
"This inhumane treatment included placing them in an overcrowded room with very minimal air circulation, and binding them with cloth fashioned into ropes, tying them to the door," Pandia said during a press conference at the Yogyakarta Police headquarters on Monday (27/4).
Yogyakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Kompol Riski Adrian, added that based on the data obtained, there were 103 children registered at the Little Aresha daycare. However, only 53 children have so far been identified as victims based on preliminary examinations.
"We are looking at the data, the foundation’s data for this academic year. The number of confirmed victims is still 53 children," Adrian explained.
