139th Canton Fair Attracts 245,000 Foreign Buyers in First Two Phases
Guangzhou (ANTARA) - The first two phases of the China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, edition 139, as of Monday (27/4) afternoon local time, have attracted 245,000 foreign buyers from 219 countries and regions, an increase of 2.2 per cent compared to the same period in the previous edition.
According to the China Foreign Trade Centre, 140 industrial and foreign trade organisations also attended the fair.
In addition, 344 leading companies from the United States (US), Mexico, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and other places participated, recording an increase of 4.9 per cent compared to the same period in the previous edition.
This year’s fair is being held in three phases offline in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, southern China, and will run until 5 May.
The second phase, held from 23 to 27 April, focuses on quality household life, covering building materials, furniture, household products, gifts, and decorations.
The third phase, scheduled from 1 to 5 May, will focus on toys, maternity and child care products, home textiles, stationery, as well as health and recreation items.
First held in 1957, the Canton Fair is organised twice a year in Guangzhou. The fair is the oldest comprehensive international trade event among similar exhibitions in China and has been recognised as a barometer of China’s foreign trade.
