Floodwaters inundated 138 homes in Babakan Madang District, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Sunday, 24 May 2026, following the Cijayanti River overflowing due to prolonged heavy rainfall. M. Adam Hamdani, Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division at Bogor Regency’s Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), stated the flooding occurred after intense rainfall persisted for an extended period. ‘Due to prolonged heavy rainfall, the Cijayanti River overflowed, affecting residential areas,’ Adam said in the BPBD’s Pusdalops-PB report. The flooding began around 17:15 WIB on Sunday in Babakan Cicerewed Village, impacting several RTs in RW 01, 02, 06, and 09 of Cijayanti Village. Water levels varied from 70 centimetres to 150 centimetres in some residential areas. According to BPBD’s preliminary assessment, 138 households (456 people) were affected. In addition to submerged homes, one house in RT 03 RW 01 collapsed entirely, belonging to a resident named Enjuh; its two occupants were forced to seek shelter with relatives locally. BPBD confirmed no casualties or threatened individuals. A joint team from BPBD, fire department, Satpol PP, village officials, Destana, and PMI was deployed for emergency response. Actions included damage assessment, disaster education, coordination with local authorities, and water pumping at affected sites. Adam added that urgent emergency logistics supplies were needed for affected residents. By Sunday evening, floodwaters had begun to recede, with residents and emergency teams still clearing mud and standing water from homes.
