137,764 Non-ASN Teachers to Receive Rp2 Million Monthly Professional Allowance

JAKARTA — The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) disclosed that 137,764 non-Civil Servant Teachers (non-ASN) will receive a professional allowance of Rp2 million per month. The allowance is payable to non-ASN teachers who hold an educator certificate and meet the required workload. ‘From our data, 137,764 teachers are eligible to receive the teacher professional allowance. Therefore, for non-ASN teachers who meet the requirements, who hold an educator certificate and meet the workload, they will receive Rp2 million per month,’ said Nunuk Suryani, Director-General for Teachers and Educational Personnel (GTK) at Kemendikdasmen, during a working meeting with Commission X of the DPR on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

Additionally, 99,432 non-ASN teachers will also receive an incentive of Rp400,000 per month. The incentive is given to non-ASN teachers who already hold an educator certificate but have not yet met the workload. ‘99,432 teachers receiving the incentive are those who have an educator certificate but have not met the workload or have not certification, receive an incentive of Rp400,000 per month,’ clear Nunuk.

SE Mendikdasmen 7/2026, according to Nunuk, is not aimed at stopping contract teachers, but rather to serve as a reference for local governments in organising the status of non-ASN teachers. ‘There is no statement in the SE that says that non-ASN teachers are barred from teaching in 2027. So what is being regulated is their status, not stopping their teaching,’ said Nunuk.

‘So actually this SE is not intended as a policy to terminate non-ASN teachers, but to act as a reference so that teachers continue to teach and local governments have considerations to re-employ them,’ said Nunuk. However, she acknowledged some differences in interpretation among local governments towards the Circular. ‘Non-ASN teachers can still teach; there is no need to worry,’ she asserted.
