134 High-Risk Inmates Transferred to Nusakambangan

The Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Kemen Imipas) has transferred 134 high-risk inmates to Nusakambangan as part of a security and rehabilitation programme. The transfer was led by the Director of Internal Security along with teams from regional offices, Brimob, Sabhara, Polresta, and Polda. To date, a total of 2,834 high-risk inmates have been moved to Nusakambangan during the leadership of the Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Agus Andrianto.

“We reiterate that the purpose of this transfer is to provide appropriate guidance and security, in line with the objectives of the Correctional system to foster self-reliance among inmates and ensure they realise their mistakes before eventually returning to society,” stated the Director General of Correctional Services at the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services, Mashudi, to reporters on Monday (8/6/2026).

The inmates transferred to the prisons in Nusakambangan originated from four regions: 36 from Riau, 33 from North Sumatra, 32 from Jambi, and 33 from the Lampung region. Upon arriving in Nusakambangan in the early hours of this morning, they were distributed across five correctional facilities.

“They arrived in Nusakambangan at approximately 00:30 this morning. Thankfully, the transfer process proceeded smoothly. The transfer and reception process in Nusakambangan was carried out in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The 134 inmates have been placed in five prisons in Nusakambangan, namely Class II-A Karang Anyar, Class II-A Besi, Class II-A Gladakan, Class II-A Narcotics, and Class II-A Ngaseman,” he added.
