JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that 130 railway crossing points without gates and guards are the responsibility of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daop 1 Jakarta.

“For railway crossings, they are indeed the responsibility or authority of KAI,” Pramono said when met in the Cengkareng area, West Jakarta, on Saturday (2/5/2026).

Nevertheless, Pramono assured that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is ready to help if PT KAI is open to requesting assistance.

“Thus, if the DKI Jakarta Government is subsequently assigned a task, we will gladly provide support to KAI,” Pramono stated.

On the other hand, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno once said that his side would evaluate all at-grade crossings, especially those that are unguarded.

He mentioned that unguarded crossings often become accident sites, thus requiring special attention.

One step taken by the DKI Provincial Government at present is building a flyover in Latumenten, West Jakarta.

He added that, besides the Latumenten project, there are plans to build a flyover in the Bintaro area.

However, that project is still facing several obstacles, including issues with the local community.

“Actually, there are two flyovers, namely in the Bintaro area, but Bintaro apparently still has problems with the community. Meanwhile, as far as I know, Bintaro has had quite a long socialisation period, but Latumenten is currently under construction. For other matters, we will certainly conduct an evaluation,” Rano said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
