A 13-year-old girl in East Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), is four months pregnant. She is alleged to have been raped by the father of a member of the East Sumba DPRD, who has now been reported to the police.

The case came to light after the victim’s mother discovered that her daughter was pregnant. According to a viral post on the Instagram account @ntt_talk, the family subsequently reported the alleged rape to Lewa Police on Sunday (23/8/2026).

Police then asked the family to take the victim to Lewa Community Health Centre to have her pregnancy checked. The examination results showed that the victim was already four months pregnant.

The family then returned to Lewa Police to provide a statement. At that time, the victim stated that the perpetrator was the father of a DPRD member from electoral district V of East Sumba.

However, after the family filed the report, that same afternoon the alleged perpetrator instead reported the victim to the police for alleged defamation.

“The victim’s account is that if she did not submit to the perpetrator’s desires, she would be killed with a machete,” read the narrative in the post, as quoted by detikBali on Thursday (27/8/2026).

East Sumba Police Chief AKBP I Kadek Hery Cahyadi confirmed that the report had been received by police.

“Yes, the police report has been received and is still under investigation. I am still waiting for the chronology of events from the investigators handling the case,” Cahyadi said on Thursday.

Cahyadi has not yet disclosed the identity of the alleged perpetrator who is accused of impregnating the victim. According to him, police are still investigating the case.

“It is still under investigation. We cannot yet name a suspect because the victim is still traumatised and has not been able to be examined by our investigators,” Cahyadi explained.
