13 Ujung Pandang State Polytechnic study programmes achieve superior accreditation
Makassar (ANTARA) - Thirteen study programmes at Ujung Pandang State Polytechnic (PNUP) Makassar have achieved superior accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) and Independent Accreditation Institutions (LAM).
PNUP Director Prof Rusdi Nur expressed gratitude and appreciation for the achievement, after 13 of the polytechnic’s 40 study programmes obtained superior accreditation.
“The achievement of 13 study programmes with superior accreditation is clear evidence of PNUP’s commitment to providing quality vocational education that is relevant to the needs of the business and industrial world. We will continue to encourage all other study programmes to follow this achievement,” he said.
Prof Rusdi said the 13 programmes that have obtained the status affirm PNUP’s position as one of the polytechnics with the most consistent quality of vocational education in eastern Indonesia.
He stated that the achievement is spread across various departments, from Chemical Engineering, Informatics and Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Accounting, to Electrical Engineering, reflecting an even distribution of quality in vocational education delivery across all PNUP units, rather than being concentrated in only a few flagship study programmes.
The thirteen study programmes come from six different departments, starting with the Mechanical Engineering department with five programmes such as D-III Heavy Equipment Maintenance, D-IV Energy Generation Engineering, D-III Mechanical Engineering, D-IV Manufacturing Engineering, and D-III Energy Conversion Engineering.
The Electrical Engineering department contributed three programmes: D-IV Electrical Engineering, D-III Electrical Engineering, and D-III Electronics Engineering.
The Chemical Engineering department recorded two Superior programmes: D-III Chemical Analysis and D-IV Industrial Chemical Technology. Meanwhile, the Informatics and Computer Engineering department contributed D-IV Computer and Network Engineering.
The Civil Engineering department contributed D-III Civil Construction Engineering, and the Accounting department contributed D-IV Managerial Accounting, each adding one programme with Superior accreditation.
Meanwhile, Head of PNUP’s Centre for Quality Assurance and Educational Development (PPMPP), Dr Ismail Anas, explained that the achievement is the result of a continuous internal quality assurance process.
“Superior accreditation is not obtained instantly, but through curriculum evaluation based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE), updating of facilities and infrastructure, and continuous improvement of lecturer competence. PPMPP will continue to oversee the other 27 study programmes so that they also achieve the same status,” he said.
Superior accreditation for the 13 study programmes brings a number of concrete benefits, including for students and graduates. The superior accreditation increases the competitiveness of diplomas in the job market, expands scholarship opportunities, and facilitates access to student exchange programmes and further study at higher levels.
For the institution, it can strengthen PNUP’s reputation as a leading polytechnic in eastern Indonesia and support the overall institutional accreditation (APT) achievement.
