JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT PLN (Persero) stated that a dozen substations in the Jakarta and surrounding areas were temporarily affected by an electricity disruption on Thursday (23/4/2026).

Senior Manager of Communication and Public Relations for PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Haris Andika, explained that 13 substations supporting Jakarta’s electricity system experienced disruptions.

“As an illustration, the electricity system in the Jakarta and surrounding areas is supported by 76 substations. Of that number, 13 substations were temporarily affected by the power supply disruption,” he stated in an official release received by Kompas.com on Thursday.

PLN then carried out gradual restoration until the entire system returned to normal.

“Most affected customers have been able to enjoy power supply again since 12:23 WIB, while the remaining approximately 5 percent were restored by 15:05 WIB,” he clarified.

PLN expressed apologies for the electricity disruption that occurred in parts of Jakarta today.

“PLN continues to strive to strengthen the reliability of the electricity system and conveys apologies for the inconvenience caused,” he added.

It was previously reported that netizens on the social media platform Threads were complaining about power outages in several areas of Jakarta on Thursday (23/4/2026).

Some locations reported to be affected by the power outage include Jalan Raya Sultan Agung in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, as well as the Cipinang area in East Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the Instagram account @jalur5 also reported a power outage at Halte CSW in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

The power outage was reported to have caused a buildup of passengers at that bus stop.

In response to the situation, Senior Manager of Communication and Public Relations for PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Haris Andika, said that the normalisation of power supply was carried out gradually, both through control systems and direct handling in the field.

“Our technical team is currently conducting intensive handling to restore the entire electricity system,” Haris stated in a holding statement confirmed by Kompas.com on Thursday.

“Parallel to the restoration process, PLN is investigating the source of the disruption that occurred,” he continued.

Haris emphasised that the public is urged to remain calm and not be influenced by unaccountable information.

“At present, all personnel are on standby and endeavouring to restore the power supply as soon as possible,” Haris asserted.
