A total of 27 people were secured by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) during a sting operation in Cilacap, Central Java. Of this number, 13 individuals were transported to Jakarta by the KPK, including Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman.
“Of the 27 people secured at the location, 13 of them were brought to Jakarta. Those transported include the regent,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists on Saturday (14/3/2026).
Budi stated that the 13 individuals arrived in Jakarta in the early morning hours. All 13 people brought to Jakarta are currently undergoing interrogation.
“They arrived at the Red and White KPK building at approximately 02:35 Western Indonesian Time. Intensive interrogation is currently being conducted,” Budi explained.
It is known that prior to being transported to Jakarta, Regent Syamsul was held at Banyumas Police Resort (Polresta) following the sting operation. There, he underwent initial interrogation by the KPK team.
According to detikJateng, on Friday (13/3), Regent Syamsul exited the Sat Reskrim building of Banyumas Police Resort at 21:12 WIB. He was wearing a green mask, a white long-sleeved shirt, and black trousers.
Syamsul remained silent when questioned by journalists at the location. Syamsul left accompanied by several KPK investigators to Purwokerto Station. In addition to Syamsul, Regional Secretary of Cilacap Sadmoko Danardono and several heads of regional government offices (OPD) were also observed wearing masks.
Upon arriving at Purwokerto Station, the group proceeded directly to the VIP waiting area. According to information gathered, the group boarded the Purwojaya train at 21:37 WIB.
KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo previously stated that a total of 27 people were secured in the Cilacap sting operation. The case involving Syamsul relates to alleged bribery connected to projects in Cilacap Regency.
“It is suspected that there were payments received by the regent’s office related to various projects in Cilacap Regency,” said Budi.
The KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those arrested in the sting operation. Currently, those arrested remain under investigation status.
