JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Thirteen illegal parking attendants in the Blok M Square area were apprehended by a joint team from the South Jakarta City Government on Thursday (21 May 2026). They were subsequently taken to a social welfare home in Kedoya, West Jakarta.

South Jakarta Transportation Sub-District Head Bernad Pasaribu stated they were not charged with a summary offence (tipiring) as they are considered homeless. This is because they are suspected to lack permanent residence in Jakarta, hence their transfer to Kedoya Social Welfare Home for initial assessment.

South Jakarta Social Services Sub-District Head Bernad Tambunan said he is currently awaiting data from the social welfare home regarding the status of the parking attendants. “We were requested by the Transportation Office to take them to the shelter. If they are indeed homeless, they are lodged there, but if they have families, they will be returned,” Bernard explained separately.

Meanwhile, South Jakarta Municipal Police Chief Nanto Dwi Subekti stated that the social welfare home sanction would serve as a deterrent.
