13 arrested after tribal conflict
KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: At least 13 locals from Wadumedi and Ledeana subdistricts were arrested on Thursday, following a tribal conflict that left one person killed.
"They are now being questioned at Sabu Barat police station, which oversees Ledeana subdistrict," said Adj. Sr. Comr. J.B. Gebana, the chief of Kupang Police.
According to Gebana, Kupang Police had also deployed 25 officers to the two subdistricts to investigate the matter.
As of Thursday, the police had not yet named any suspects.
The tribal clash occurred on Tuesday, after a long-standing borderline dispute between the residents of the two subdistricts.
The incident resulted in the death of Riwu Ratu, 51, from Ledeana subdistrict, and two others were wounded. -- JP
