123,937 Vehicles Use Trans-Sumatra Toll Road During Ascension of Jesus Christ Long Weekend
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) recorded 123,937 vehicles using the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) during the long Ascension of Jesus Christ weekend period on May 14th, 2026.
This figure represents a 28.26% increase compared to normal traffic on several operational toll road sections.
Acting Executive Vice President (EVP) Secretary of PT Hutama Karya, Hamdani, said the increase in traffic occurred on several major sections, especially connecting corridors between cities, access to urban areas, and routes used by the public during the long weekend.
“Cumulatively, the total daily traffic on operational toll road sections reached 123,937 vehicles, or an increase of 28.26% compared to normal traffic,” said Hamdani, quoted from a press release on Friday (May 15th, 2026).
Hutama Karya recorded that the number of vehicles using the Terbanggi Besar–Kayu Agung (Terpeka) toll road reached 15,174 vehicles, an increase of 16.78% compared to normal traffic.
Meanwhile, the volume of vehicles on the Betung–Tempino–Jambi toll road, on the Bayung Lencir–Tempino section, reached 8,135 vehicles, an increase of 5.51%.
On the Bengkulu–Taba Penanjung (Bengtaba) toll road, the number of vehicles was recorded at 2,065 vehicles, an increase of 45.22% compared to normal traffic.
For the Pekanbaru–Dumai (Permai) toll road, the volume of vehicles reached 15,081 vehicles, an increase of 4.82% compared to normal conditions.
The Pekanbaru–XIII Koto Kampar toll road recorded the highest increase, with the number of vehicles reaching 8,878 vehicles, a surge of 99.06% compared to normal traffic.
On the Indrapura–Kisaran toll road, the volume of vehicles was recorded at 9,518 vehicles, an increase of 11.07%.
Meanwhile, the number of vehicles using the Binjai–Langsa toll road, on the Binjai–Pangkalan Brandan section, reached 10,122 vehicles, an increase of 11.46%.
For the Sigli–Banda Aceh (Sibanceh) toll road, the number of vehicles reached 9,396 vehicles, an increase of 35.60% compared to normal conditions.
The Padang–Sicincin toll road also experienced a significant surge in traffic, with the volume of vehicles reaching 4,487 vehicles, an increase of 144.79% compared to normal traffic.
Meanwhile, the Kuala Tanjung–Tebing Tinggi–Parapat Section 1–4 toll road, on the Kuala Tanjung–Pematang Siantar section, managed by PT Hutama Marga Waskita (HMW), recorded 25,385 vehicles, an increase of 63.41% compared to normal conditions.
The company also urged road users to plan their trips well, obey traffic signs and speed limits, maintain a safe distance, and ensure that the vehicle and driver are in prime condition before traveling.
