120 Vendor Chairs from South Tangerang Missing After Fake MBG Event Order Found in Depok
TANGERANG SELATAN — Police have recovered 120 chairs and one blower belonging to the Fatimah az-Zahra Wedding vendor in South Tangerang, which had gone missing, in Pangkalan Jati, Cinere, Depok on Thursday, 7 May 2026.
Ciputat Timur Police Chief Kompol Bambang Askar Sodiq said the items were returned to the owner.
“The incident occurred on 30 April; the items were found a week later, so it was three weeks ago,” Bambang said when interviewed at the Ciputat Timur Police Station in South Tangerang on Monday, 1 June 2026.
Bambang explained that the case began when decoration vendor owner Siti Fatimah (39) received a rental order for 170 Futura chairs and three blowers from a man with the initials AAP.
Fatimah then delivered all ordered items to the location on 30 April 2026.
However, after the items arrived, the suspect allegedly used a ride-hailing app service to collect part of the delivered equipment.
“After the 170 chairs and three blowers were delivered, another request came via a ride-hailing app. Out of the 170 chairs, 120 chairs and three blowers were taken,” Bambang said.
The victim subsequently filed a report at Ciputat Timur Police Station under case number TBL/B/578/IV/2026/SPKT/SEK.Ciputat Timur/Res.Tangsel/PMJ on the same day.
After receiving the report, police conducted an investigation and found that the suspect, AAP, used a three-way scam method.
In this case, the suspect pretended to rent items from the victim, then offered the same items to another party via social media.
“So the person who ordered the chairs from Mrs Fatimah then passed them on to someone else via social media using a different account,” he explained.
“We eventually found an address in Pangkalan Jati where Mrs Siti Fatimah’s items were still located,” he said.
Police investigation revealed that the second recipient, identified only by the initial D, was also a victim of fraud.
