Bontang – A total of 120 micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) operators enthusiastically participated in a dissemination and assistance programme for the issuance of Business Identification Numbers (NIB), organised by the East Kalimantan Provincial Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP). The event took place at Hotel Tiara Surya, with active collaboration from DPMPTSP Bontang City, which served as resource speakers and technical facilitators.

The programme aimed to improve MSME operators' understanding and ability to access business legality services through the risk-based business licensing system (OSS-RBA). The NIB serves as a legal identity that provides business operators with access to various government facilities and programmes, including financing, partnerships and broader market opportunities.

The Head of East Kalimantan Provincial DPMPTSP, Fahmi Prima Laksana, stated in his opening remarks that legality is a crucial foundation for helping MSMEs move up to the next level. "By holding an NIB, MSMEs do not merely possess a legal document but also gain access to various forms of government and private sector support. This is a concrete step towards creating an orderly, formal and competitive business ecosystem," he explained.

He further affirmed the East Kalimantan Provincial Government's commitment to accelerating the digitalisation of licensing services and expanding outreach to all regencies and cities.

Similarly, the Head of DPMPTSP Bontang, Muhammad Aspiannur, expressed appreciation for the collaboration between the provincial and regency/city governments in strengthening the capacity of local business operators. "We at DPMPTSP Bontang City are committed to continuously assisting MSME operators, from the socialisation stage through registration to post-licensing. With the NIB, Bontang's MSMEs are now better prepared to compete at both the local and national levels," he said.

During the event, participants received direct guidance on how to access and complete data entry in the OSS-RBA system, as well as understanding the risk classification of their businesses. The technical team from DPMPTSP also provided individual mentoring for business operators experiencing technical difficulties.

The programme forms part of the government's strategy to strengthen the regional economic foundation through legality-based MSME empowerment. With an increasing number of registered and legally compliant MSMEs, it is hoped that local economic growth can proceed in an inclusive and sustainable manner.
