12,232 Kopdes Merah Putih Outlets Completed, 1,061 Now Operational
The government continues to accelerate the construction of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative (Kopdes) as part of an effort to strengthen the village economy and expand public access to essential goods at affordable prices.
The Head of the Government Communications Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, revealed that as of 8 June 2026, 12,232 Merah Putih Kopdes outlets have completed physical construction and are now entering the operational preparation stage.
“As of 8 June 2026, 1,061 units are already operational, spread across two provinces: 530 units in East Java and 531 units in Central Java. All were symbolically inaugurated by the President in Nglawak Village, Nganjuk, East Java, on 16 May,” Qodari stated during a press conference on Wednesday, 10 June 2026.
He explained that the development of Merah Putih Kopdes continues to show significant progress. Based on data from PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara (Persero), the construction executor, there are currently 23,010 sites undergoing construction across various regions in Indonesia.
“Of these, 12,232 outlets have been physically completed and are now entering the operational preparation phase,” he said.
The government targets a total construction of 80,000 units by 2029. Currently, approximately 70,000 other units are still in the construction or land mapping stages.
According to Qodari, based on information from PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, 20,000 Merah Putih Kopdes sites are targeted for inauguration by August 2026.
Qodari explained that Merah Putih Kopdes is designed as a centre for village economic activity, performing three main functions: production, distribution, and community services.
In terms of production, Merah Putih Kopdes acts as an off-taker for agricultural products, providing market certainty for farmers so they no longer have to rely on middlemen.
In terms of distribution, Merah Prime Kopdes serves as a village logistics hub, distributing both subsidised and non-subsidised goods to remote areas with the support of the PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) network.
“In terms of services, Merah Putih Kopdes functions as a distribution point for social assistance, a centre for subsidised financial services, and a platform for empowering village MSMEs,” Qodari explained.
He added that the presence of Merah Putih Kopdes also provides direct benefits to the community through more affordable prices for basic necessities.
