Riverwalk Island, Pantai Indah Kapuk, officially inaugurated the Tian Fu Gong Temple on Sunday (17/5). This place of worship is dedicated as the Palace for the 12 Great Deities of 2026.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by government officials, religious leaders, and community figures, with over 12,000 devotees witnessing the historic moment. The official opening, marked by ribbon-cutting, the unveiling of red cloth, and the signing of a commemorative plaque, was performed by the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung.

“By the grace of God, I officially inaugurate the Tian Fu Gong Temple at Riverwalk Island PIK. I sincerely hope this temple brings blessings, comfort, and happiness. I am truly grateful that alongside the Al Ikhlas Mosque, facilities for Buddhists have been built, and now for Tri Dharma or Taoism, with a Catholic church also planned for the near future. This demonstrates that togetherness, diversity, and tolerance have truly been realised here. This is Indonesia,” said Pramuna, as quoted on Monday (18/5/2026).

During the event, Pramono also shared plans regarding the development of the Jakarta LRT line, which is intended to extend to the PIK2 area and connect directly to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The expansion plan is slated to continue towards North Jakarta, starting from Tanjung Priok, the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), to Ancol.

“If this continues from Velodrome to North Jakarta, Tanjung Priok, then from Tanjung Priok to JIS, and from JIS to Ancol, the subsequent connection that needs to be prepared is the link from Ancol to PIK2, eventually connecting to Soekarno-Hatta Airport,” he explained.

The spiritual procession continued with the Khaikuang Shen Xiang ceremony and communal prayers. Various cultural performances, including dragon and lion dances, added to the festive atmosphere of the inauguration night.

The Tian Fu Gong Temple, or “Palace of Great Prosperity,” serves not only as a place of worship but also as a symbol of hope, virtue, and harmony. The name Tian Fu Gong carries deep meaning: “Tian” represents the heavens and the universal order, “Fu” signifies blessings and prosperity, and “Gong” denotes a sacred palace where the deities reside.

The President Director of Agung Sedayu Group, Retired Lieutenant General (Mar) Dr Nono Sampono, stated that the establishment of Tian Fu Gong further strengthens Riverwalk Island PIK as a religious zone that upholds tolerance and diversity. The area previously introduced places of worship such as Si Mian Fo and the Al Ikhlas PIK Mosque, which serve as symbols of interfaith harmony in the Pantai Indah Kapuk area.

He noted that the presence of Tian Fu Gong is part of a commitment to provide spiritual and communal spaces for the wider public. “The establishment of this house of worship symbolises the presence of spiritual, cultural, and harmonious spaces open to all. Tian Fu Gong Temple is expected to be a place for prayer, spreading virtue, and strengthening brotherhood between religious communities in the spirit of Indonesian tolerance and diversity,” he added.

He expressed hope that through the inauguration of Tian Fu Gong, Riverwalk Island PIK will not only become a tourist and cultural destination with modern, integrated metropolitan transport access but also a space for spiritual reflection that brings peace, virtue, and blessings to all people.
