119 Detained Amid Clashes During Execution at Former Hotel Sultan, Police Investigate Mobilisers
Polda Metro Jaya has detained 119 people following throwing incidents and clashes that occurred during the execution of State-Owned Assets (BMN) for Block 15 in the former Hotel Sultan area, Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta. During the execution process, 29 officers and 2 civilians were reported injured.
“This security action was taken to restore order and investigate the masterminds behind the violence and obstruction of duty,” said Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, in Jakarta on Thursday (18/6/2026).
He added that the detention of the 119 individuals was carried out to protect them from a potentially more dangerous escalation. Furthermore, Budi stated the detention was also aimed at mapping which groups were illegally occupying the area and investigating the intellectual actors who financed the mass mobilisation.
Commissioner Budi Hermanto expressed deep concern over the casualties sustained during the task of vacating this state asset. He stressed that the law must be enforced with a cool head and mutual respect.
“We deeply regret the tension that resulted in injuries to our colleagues from the Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and our civilian brothers,” he said. He explained that the presence of officers was to serve and ensure legal certainty proceeds peacefully for all parties.
According to him, the act of obstructing the execution of a court ruling that has permanent legal force (inkracht), such as the civil case and the State Administrative Court (PTUN) lawsuit attached to this object, is not only against the law. It also violates the principle of res judicata pro veritate habetur—that a court decision must be considered correct and respected by every citizen for the sake of shared social order.
Polda Metro Jaya ensured that the entire series of executions for the Block 15 state assets at the former Hotel Sultan was carried out with full accountability and transparency. The police appealed to all elements of society, especially residents around Senayan, to remain calm, think clearly, and not be easily provoked by one-sided narratives on social media that deliberately incite division.
He urged the public to entrust the entire resolution of this dispute to the legal corridor and legitimate judicial institutions. “If residents see suspicious mass movements or require security assistance and traffic management around the GBK area, they are welcome to contact the nearest officer or access the free quick service of the official Police Call Centre 110,” he said.
