118 Illegal Buildings Demolished for Kali Angke Normalisation in Bogor
A joint task force has demolished 118 illegal buildings in Kemang District, Bogor, West Java, as part of efforts to normalise the Kali Angke river. The operation began on Monday (29/6) and is intended to restore the river’s natural function. Rhama Kodara, Head of Public Order and Security at the Bogor Regency Civil Service Police Unit, stated that the enforcement action targeted structures on the riverbanks to support the river normalisation programme, reduce flood risks, and restore the function of the watershed. The demolition was carried out both manually and with heavy equipment, in accordance with prevailing regional regulations. ‘The activity proceeded in a safe, orderly, and conducive manner. Buildings on the riverbanks were successfully removed in compliance with the regulations, and the remaining debris was cleared,’ Rhama explained on Tuesday (30/6/2026). A total of 118 buildings were demolished across three villages in Kemang District. In Kemang Village, 38 buildings were almost entirely dismantled; in Parakan Village, 77 buildings were demolished; and in Pondok Udik Village, three buildings were removed. The operation was conducted without any disturbances. The only obstacles encountered were technical, including a shortage of transport vehicles and limited access to the locations.
