118 Hotels in Madinah Ready to Accommodate Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has prepared 118 hotels to welcome the arrival of Indonesian hajj pilgrims who will perform the series of hajj rites in 1447 Hijriah. A total of 103,000 Indonesian hajj pilgrims from the first wave are scheduled to arrive in Madinah on Wednesday (22/4/2026). “The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has prepared 118 hotels spread across three main areas, namely Syamaliah (north), Janubiyah (south), and Gharbiyah (west),” said the Head of Accommodation at the Madinah Daker, Zaenal Mutaqin, in a press statement on Tuesday (21/4/2026). Zaenal explained that pilgrims need to rest comfortably to perform their hajj rites with devotion. Zaenal stated that due to hotel capacities not always matching the number of pilgrims, placements within one flight group (kloter) must be adjusted accordingly. In such conditions, some pilgrims from one kloter may occupy different hotels. Although there are variations in hotel quality, ranging from equivalent to three-star to some approaching four-star, this does not reduce the service standards received by the pilgrims. “The hotels are indeed different, but the service standards are the same. In fact, there are hotels with facilities approaching those of special hajj, even though the pilgrims are regular,” he said. He added that Kemenhaj also provides service standards covering meals, transportation, luggage handling, and religious programmes such as city tours and visits to Raudhah, ensuring all pilgrims receive optimal services. With these preparations, it is hoped that Indonesian hajj pilgrims can perform their rites calmly, comfortably, and devotedly while in Madinah.
