115 Firefighters Deployed to Tackle Apartment Fire in Tanah Abang

More than one hundred firefighters were deployed to handle an apartment fire in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. Officers are still working to extinguish the flames.

“The fire status is currently in the process of localisation,” stated an officer from the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) command centre on Friday (4/9/2026).

A total of 23 pump engines and 115 firefighting personnel were dispatched to the fire site on Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, Karet Tengsin, Tanah Abang.

During the localisation process, officers have managed to control the spread of the flames to prevent them from reaching wider areas or other objects. Personnel are continuing to spray water on the active fire points at the scene.

In addition to extinguishing the fire, officers are also working to evacuate the apartment residents. Dozens of residents have been moved to safety.

“So far, 14 people have been successfully evacuated,” the officer added.

The fire originated on the fifth floor of the apartment. The blaze was reported to the fire department by residents at 11:23 WIB, with firefighting efforts commencing at 11:30 WIB.

The cause and chronology of the fire remain unknown. There is currently no information regarding any casualties resulting from the incident.
