114 Homes Affected by Fire in Gambir, Central Jakarta; Forensic Team Deployed

A fire swept through a residential area in Gambir, Central Jakarta, affecting 114 homes.

According to an information board seen by detikcom at the scene on Monday (31/8/2026) at 18.00, 114 homes were affected by the incident. In addition, 880 people from 310 family cards (KK) were impacted by the fire.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Chief, AKBP Mirzal Maulana, said there were no fatalities from the incident. Data collection on the burned houses is also ongoing.

“Alhamdulillah, there have been no casualties among the public to this day, and we are still continuing to collect data on the number of houses burned in two neighbourhood units, RT 04 and RT 05 Batuceper, Central Jakarta,” said AKBP Mirzal Maulana at the fire site.

Furthermore, Mirzal said police are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire in the Gambir area. Police have deployed a forensic team to sweep the fire site.

“The cause of the fire is still being investigated, because the fire spread very quickly and the wind was also very strong. At this time, the forensic identification team is on standby to conduct a sweep once cooling has been completed,” he said.

Previously, the fire was reported by residents to the fire department at 13.40 WIB. Firefighting operations began at 13.46 WIB.

Officers were able to bring the fire under control to prevent it from spreading to a wider area. The firefighting process was reported to be in yellow status as of 16.17 WIB.

“Fire status: extinguishing process. (The fire) has been localised,” said Triyanto, Head of Operations for the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat).
