113 Tonnes of Waste Pile Up in Greater Bandung, KDM Says Volume Rises During Long Holidays
Waste accumulation has become a problem in the Greater Bandung area in recent weeks. Not only does it spoil aesthetics, but the situation also causes environmental disturbances and threatens public health.
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has set a target to resolve the issue within three days. He stated he would personally visit the site to oversee waste management operations.
He said approximately 113 tonnes of waste remain piled up, with some suspected to have been unmanaged for an extended period.
“This morning I will head to Bandung to coordinate efforts across the Greater Bandung region to ensure waste is cleared within three days, eliminating any long-standing accumulation,” said the governor, commonly known as KDM, on Thursday (28 May 2026).
He added that waste issues in the area often escalate during long holidays due to increased waste volume, while waste collection processes are not operating optimally.
“Every long holiday inevitably leads to waste piles that may not be cleared after the holiday,” he said.
