110 'Red and White Precision' Bridges Open Access to Remote Areas in Riau
The Riau Regional Police (Polda Riau) has successfully built 110 ‘Red and White Precision’ bridges during the 2025-2026 period. The presence of these bridges is now opening access and ending the isolation of residents in remote areas of Riau Province.
This initiative represents a tangible commitment by the Indonesian National Police (Polri), which is not solely focused on maintaining public security and order (kamtibmas) and law enforcement, but also takes an active role in supporting the acceleration of basic infrastructure development in the regions, as directed by President Prabowo Subianto.
The construction of the 110 Red and White Precision bridges targeted crucial points in various districts and cities across Riau that had previously received little attention. Before these bridges stood firm, residents in remote areas had to risk their lives crossing old, decayed, and crumbling bridges.
Now, the presence of this new connectivity provides a multidimensional impact that is directly felt by the community. The Red and White Precision bridges, spread across 110 points in all districts and cities of Riau Province, are now accelerating access to education, economic growth, and public and health services.
The 110 Red and White Precision bridges built by the Riau Regional Police in collaboration with foundations were inaugurated by the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, some time ago. He expressed appreciation for the construction of these bridges and hoped their presence would provide broad benefits for the community.
“So that it is hoped this will help the community to improve their welfare and our hope is that children can grow up to be good and successful,” the National Police Chief said at the time.
Appreciation for Foundations
These Red and White Precision bridges were realised thanks to collaboration with community elements. Two foundations contributed directly to the construction of the bridges, namely the Putra Peduli Foundation together with Relawan 1011 and the Harmoni Nusa Foundation. The foundations’ contributions provided tremendous benefits in supporting the opening of access for communities in remote areas.
For this tangible contribution, the Riau Police Chief, Inspector General Herry Heryawan, presented awards to both foundations. The awards were given directly by Inspector General Herry Heryawan to the Putra Peduli Foundation with Relawan 1011 and the Harmoni Nusa Foundation on Monday (10/8/2026). According to him, the involvement of community elements is an important part of the spirit built through the Red and White Precision Bridge programme.
“This award is a form of respect for their care and spirit of mutual cooperation. When the government, the National Police, and all elements of society move together, even the most difficult problems can be solved,” said Inspector General Herry Heryawan on Monday (10/8).
He emphasised that the construction of the Red and White Precision bridges was built from the outset through a spirit of collaboration. The National Police did not work alone but moved together with local governments, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), businesses, communities, volunteers, and the public.
“This bridge is not just a physical construction. Behind every bridge built, there is access that is opened, a local economy that moves, children who find it easier to go to school, and public services that become closer,” he added.
The Riau Police Chief hopes that the involvement of the two foundations can inspire more parties to contribute to solving problems that directly affect the community’s needs. He stressed that collaboration is a strength to accelerate the delivery of solutions, especially for communities in areas with limited access.
The Red and White Precision Bridge programme is one of the National Police’s movements to open community access through the construction and repair of bridges in various regions. This programme is also a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit, which is then implemented by all regional police forces, including the Riau Regional Police.
The programme targets bridges that serve as vital access for the community to reach schools, health facilities, economic centres, and daily activities, especially in remote villages that have been underserved. Through this programme, the Riau Regional Police aims to ensure that the presence of the National Police is felt not only in maintaining security and law enforcement but also through efforts that provide direct benefits to the community’s life.
