A total of 110 Merah Putih Presisi bridges spread across all regencies and cities in Riau Province have been completed as of the end of June 2026. The presence of this infrastructure is expected to strengthen inter-regional connectivity while facilitating public access to schools, health facilities, places of worship, and centres of economic activity.

Commander of the Riau Police Mobile Brigade, Senior Commissioner I Ketut Gede Adi Wibawa, stated that the construction of the 110 bridges is an implementation of the government’s directive to strengthen infrastructure that directly impacts community activities, particularly in areas that have faced access limitations. By the end of June 2026, the Riau Police Task Force for Bridge Development and Renovation had completed the entire target of 110 Merah Putih Presisi bridges across all regencies and cities in Riau Province.

The programme was carried out in two phases. The first phase involved the construction of 27 bridges, which were inaugurated by the National Police Chief on 17 March 2026 in Kampar Regency. The second phase successfully completed the construction and renovation of an additional 83 bridges, thereby fulfilling the entire target. “Alhamdulillah, we have completed all targets, so a total of 110 Merah Putih Presisi bridges have now been built across all regencies and cities in Riau Province,” said Ketut on Sunday (28/6/2026).

According to Ketut, the bridges not only improve inter-regional connectivity but also support the safety and smooth flow of daily community activities. The infrastructure makes it easier for children to go to school, accelerates residents’ access to health services, and facilitates the distribution of agricultural and plantation produce. The construction involved joint personnel from the Mobile Brigade, the Directorate of Samapta, the Directorate of Water and Air Police, and precinct-level police within the Riau Regional Police. The work was carried out in various areas with diverse geographical conditions, ranging from coastal areas, islands, and riverbanks to inland regions.

“These bridges open up safer access for children to go to school, make it easier for residents to reach health services, smooth the distribution of agricultural and plantation produce, and drive the village economy. This is the true meaning of the Police’s service to the community,” Ketut said. Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan stated that the completion of the 110 bridges is proof of collaboration between the Police, local government, the business sector, and the community in providing infrastructure that delivers direct benefits to residents. Following the inauguration of the first phase in March, Herry said the Riau Police are now preparing for the inauguration of the second phase of 83 Merah Putih Presisi bridges, planned as part of the Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026 activities. He expressed hope that all the bridges built will be maintained and utilised together as infrastructure that strengthens social, educational, and economic activities in the community. “We hope all these bridges will become a legacy of service whose benefits can be felt by the community in the long term. Because for us, the best Bhayangkara Day is when the presence of the Police truly provides benefits for people’s lives,” Herry said.
