11-Year OJOL Partner Receives Rp250,000 BHR While Rp600,000 Is Deducted Monthly
Jakarta, KOMPAS.com – The Hari Raya Assistance (BHR) incentive for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver partners began to be disbursed by several app operators ahead of Hari Raya Idulfitri 1447 Hijriah. The amounts received by drivers vary from Rp200,000 to Rp900,000, depending on each driver’s performance.
Nevertheless, the disbursement of the incentive did not automatically ease drivers’ complaints. Some drivers again highlighted the size of deductions borne by the app operators.
‘In fact, we are left with Rp600,000 a month in deductions under the Hemat programme. The deductions come from the Hemat programme. So, the app operators are not capable of offering a programme that truly improves drivers’ welfare,’ he lamented.
He explained that drivers who complete more than 10 orders in the ‘Hemat’ programme will be charged Rp20,000 per day by the app operators.
‘So they (the apps) seek their additional income from drivers, not from customers,’ he said.
If calculated over a month, the Rp20,000 daily deduction can total Rp600,000. In addition, the drivers’ earnings are cut by 20 percent for each trip they complete.
‘That’s just from Hemat, not counting the 20 percent cut per trip. We’re doomed if we’re cut again and again. Essentially, the management’s creativity is aimed at drivers; the idea has run dry for making money, so they squeeze drivers again,’ he said.
According to Teguh, compared with those deductions, the nominal BHR received by drivers feels not commensurate.
Many even do not receive anything at all due to accumulated order cancellations, though not all cancellations are the drivers’ fault.
To obtain the BHR with the largest amount, drivers must have a high account performance in the app.
The BHR amounts are usually grouped according to drivers’ performance levels, from Harapan, Andalan, to Jawara as the highest level.
Drivers who want to obtain the maximum BHR Rp900,000 must be able to maintain the Jawara level for a full 12 months.
