11 'lurah' disciplined

The West Jakarta mayoralty office has disciplined 11 lurah
(sub-district chiefs) and two of their secretaries over the past
eight months for giving poor services to local residents.

The action taken against the government employees includes
dismissal, promotion deferral, and demotion, Mayor Sutardjianto
was quoted by Kompas on Saturday.

"All data (concerning the offenders) is in my hands and I'll
announce it publicly in order to let the people know about them,"
the mayor said.

The 11 lurah were assigned in Kembangan, Krukut, Kalideres,
Joglo, Sukabumi Utara, Kelapa Dua, Meruya Ilir, Rawa Buaya, Tanah
Sereal, Kali Anyar and Duri Utara. The two lurah secretaries
worked at the Cengkareng Timur and Sukabumi Utara offices.

Sutardjianto urged the public not to hesitate in reporting any
illegal activities of his staff to the mayoralty office along
with material evidence.

"We'll process and make in-depth investigations of all
complaints before determining the punishment," he said. (bsr)
