11 KRL Crossings in Tangerang Without Gates, Prone to Accidents

Tangerang Regency Government, Banten, has identified 11 level crossings in its area as accident-prone points. All are located on the green line commuter line (KRL) route from Tanah Abang (Jakarta) to Rangkasbitung (Banten). Tangerang Regent Maesyal Rasyid stated that out of a total of 28 crossings in its administrative area, 11 are on the high-risk list because they have not yet been equipped with crossing gates and guards. “The accident-prone ones I mentioned earlier, there are 11 that are not guarded,” said Maesyal on Thursday (7/5). Additionally, Maesyal mentioned that currently, 15 crossings are guarded by personnel from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), the Banten Provincial Government, and the surrounding community. Meanwhile, the 11 unguarded crossings include eight that are on the list of 1,800 points that will have their safety improved by PT Kereta Api Indonesia. These locations are spread across Kampung Parigi, Cibelut, Cisauk Sinyal, Kampung Kandang, Jatake, the extension of Tigaraksa-Cikoya Station, to Kampung Gabus. Maesyal explained that the safety enhancement process is currently in the study stage by the Tangerang Regency Transportation Agency before being submitted to the relevant parties. “This is part of the local government’s readiness to respond and implement the President’s programme,” he emphasised. In addition, the local government is also striving to build crossing gates for those not covered by the central government and to maintain the gates already available at some crossings. “To anticipate risks, we are conducting data collection and inspections through monitoring, evaluation, and enhancement of supporting facilities,” he said.
