11 Electric Buses for GOR Ngurah Rai-GWK Route to Operate in October

The Bali Provincial Government will trial 11 electric buses donated by South Korea in Bali. All buses will be integrated with the Trans Sarbagita Corridor I route, namely the route from GOR Ngurah Rai to Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK).

The trial is scheduled to begin in October 2026. “The electric buses may start being trialled. The target is in October,” said Head of the Bali Provincial Transportation Agency, Kadek Mudarta, when confirmed by detikBali on Monday (24/8/2026).

The electric buses were previously a grant from the South Korean government through cooperation with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). The procurement of these electric buses is part of the Bali E-Mobility project.

In addition, the 11 buses are assets under the Sarbagita brand. Therefore, their route will take over the Trans Sarbagita Corridor I route. The decision was also based on a study supporting the electric buses to operate on the GOR Ngurah Rai - Udayana University - GWK route.

“Based on the study for the electric buses, it is our corridor one, so the corridor from GOR Ngurah Rai to Unud and GWK,” he explained.

Regarding fares, Mudarta has not yet confirmed the fare scheme during the trial period. His office is still reviewing the possibility of a free scheme during the trial or immediately applying normal fares.

However, if the trial period ends and the electric buses enter the regular transport service scheme, normal fares will still apply.

“We will check the scheme first. Before I can say whether it will be free or whether it will be paid immediately, it depends on the scheme,” Mudarta added.

To support operations, bus charging facilities will also be prepared at two points. Charging facilities are being prepared at GOR Ngurah Rai for bus departure preparation. Meanwhile, at night the buses can charge at the charging facility prepared at the Bali Provincial Transportation Agency Office.
