11 bodies found after crash
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Rescuers said yesterday that they had
found the bodies of all 11 Malaysian air force men who perished
when two helicopters crashed in Sabah state two days ago.
Seven bodies were winched up from the hilly crash site in the
east Malaysian state and flown directly to a hospital on nearby
Labuan island, Bernama news agency quoted a spokesman for the
rescue mission as saying.
The wreckage of the two US-made Sikorsky helicopters which
crashed Tuesday in a deep ravine on Borneo island, some 1,700
kilometers (1,056 miles) east of Kuala Lumpur, were found 4.8
kilometers away from each other.
Tuesday's crash was the country's third air tragedy this
month. On March 3, Malaysian auto king Yahaya Ahmad, his wife and
their pilot were killed when their Italian-made Agusta helicopter
crashed in the central state of Pahang.
