108 Lululemon Bags Stolen During X-Ray Inspection at Soekarno-Hatta Airport
JAKARTA - As many as 108 Lululemon bags went missing from cargo at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport while en route to Shanghai, China.
Following a report of the loss, police conducted an investigation by examining CCTV footage in the Regulated Agent-Basic Safety Training (RA BST) area and the Soewarna warehouse.
The examination revealed that 40 cartons out of a total of 512 were deliberately separated during the X-ray inspection process.
Meanwhile, suspect R was the mastermind of the theft and the on-site executor.
He was employed as part of the export operations team at one of the companies at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
Suspect A assisted in the theft process, while F was responsible for arranging the goods to be diverted from the inspection line.
The 80 stolen bags were sold to a fence with the initials BO at a price of Rp 300,000 per bag.
“The total proceeds from the sale amounted to Rp 24 million,” said Yandri.
From the interrogation, the perpetrators admitted to having carried out similar thefts several times since 2024.
The theft came to light when PT Pungkook Indonesia One shipped 4,749 Lululemon bags from Grobogan, Central Java, to Shanghai via Garuda Indonesia cargo.
The goods were shipped on 10 April 2026 and arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on 13 April 2026.
Upon arrival at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, the Lululemon goods were scheduled to be flown to Shanghai on Garuda Indonesia flight GA 0894 from Jakarta to Shanghai on 14 April 2026.
However, on 20 April 2026, the company received a report from customers in Shanghai that 108 bags were missing.
“The losses due to the incident amounted to Rp 213 million,” Yandri stated.
In this case, police seized evidence including export shipment documents, CCTV recordings, flight manifest data, one Toyota Avanza vehicle, and one Isuzu box truck.
For their actions, the three perpetrators are charged under Article 477 letter g of the Criminal Code regarding theft committed jointly, with a potential penalty of nine years’ imprisonment.
