1,076 shanties to be demolished

JAKARTA (JP): Law and order officers will soon demolish 1,076
shanties illegally built in a number of areas throughout West
Jakarta.

West Jakarta Mayor Sutardjianto told Antara news agency on Monday
that the demolition will be carried out in line with the city
administration's determination to strengthen law enforcement.

He said that the plan is meant to enable the mayoralty to win the
city's Adipura medal, which is given annually to the mayoralty with
the excellent achievement in sanitation.(hhr)
