The Ministry of Public Works has identified 52 flood-prone locations and 53 landslide-prone locations on national roads in West Java’s jurisdiction ahead of the Eid holiday exodus. Rina Kumala Sari, Head of the Large-Scale National Road Implementation Unit for DKI Jakarta-West Java under the Directorate General of Road Construction at the Ministry of Public Works, stated that vulnerable locations range from Bekasi and Bogor.

“The flood-prone locations are in Bekasi, then in Parung, Bandung, Ciawi and also in Cibadak,” she said when met at the Vehicle Testing Technical Implementation Unit office in Cirebon City on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Several flood-prone areas have been identified from Parung to Bandung, then Pelabuhan Ratu to Surade. Additionally, locations include Jatiasih District in Bekasi City, Sindangbarang, Cidaun, Purwakarta, Sumedang, Cileunyi, Tasikmalaya, areas around Palimanan, Cipatujah, Kalapagenep, and Pangandaran.

Landslide-prone areas are located around Cibinong to Cianjur, Cikembang, Tegalbuleud, Sindangbarang, Purwakarta to Sinumbra, areas around Palimanan, Bojongloa, Cipasung, Kalapagenep, and Pameungpeuk.

Rina stated that the Large-Scale National Road Implementation Unit for DKI Jakarta-West Java has taken anticipatory measures since the beginning regarding flooding, including conducting drainage cleaning operations together with the Large-Scale River Basin Management Unit. “For Bekasi, this is regional flooding, so it indeed requires more intensive and wider-scale handling,” she said.

One of the challenges for this year’s holiday exodus is the potential for extreme rainfall that could cause flooding and landslides. Additionally, there is potential for road damage from water erosion, compounded by heavy vehicles passing through.

Rina stated that her unit has prepared 117 Disaster Relief Units and 31 road repair equipment units. “Distributed across disaster-prone locations,” she said.

She assured that roads affected by disasters or potholes will be handled immediately. This measure is to ensure smooth travel flow during the holiday exodus, which is now ten days before Eid.
