104 nabbed in operation

JAKARTA (JP): A public order operation on Jl. Mayjen Sutoyo,
East Jakarta, nabbed 104 people on Wednesday for violating public
order laws. Rp 1.7 million ($758) was collected in fines.

The operation, conducted as part of the national discipline
movement, caught five people who crossed the street in forbidden
places, 70 street vendors and 29 inter city busses.

The people charged with violating public order law were tried
on the spot.

The joint operation was conducted by the East Jakarta Military
Command, the city police, the city land transportation control
agency, the justice department, the district attorney's office
and the East Jakarta mayoralty. (yns)
