103 Illegal Buildings Demolished in Ciseeng, Bogor, After Causing Floods

A total of 103 illegal buildings and street vendor stalls have been demolished by officials in the Ciseeng area of Bogor Regency, West Java. The demolition was forced because the structures were erected on irrigation channels and road reserves, frequently triggering floods.

“Based on the data collected, there were 103 unlicensed buildings at the enforcement location. This consisted of 28 buildings on Jalan Mad Nur, 6 buildings on Jalan Ciseeng-Cogreg, and 69 buildings on Jalan H Usa,” said Ciseeng Sub-district Head Subhi on Wednesday.

Subhi explained that the enforcement is part of the Bogor Regency Government’s efforts to uphold Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2025 concerning the Implementation of Public Order, Community Peace, and Community Protection. The execution was carried out by a joint team of Civil Service Police Unit officers, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, Parung Police, relevant agency officials, and assisted by local residents.

“This arrangement is not merely the demolition of buildings, but is an effort by the Bogor Regency Government to maintain public order, restore the function of public facilities, and create a more orderly, safe, and comfortable environment,” Subhi stated. “This enforcement aims to restore the function of irrigation channels and road reserves so they can be utilised properly for the benefit of the wider community,” he added.

Subhi added that the enforcement proceeded smoothly because it was carried out in stages and prioritised a persuasive approach. Of the total 103 illegal buildings, the majority of owners chose to dismantle their own stalls. It was recorded that 92 buildings were dismantled independently, while the remaining 11 structures were demolished by officers using heavy equipment.

“Alhamdulillah, most residents showed a cooperative attitude, so 92 buildings were dismantled by the owners themselves,” Subhi said. Following the enforcement, the Bogor Regency Government has assured that it will not relax supervision of the location. “The Bogor Regency Government will continue to monitor the areas that have been cleared to prevent the re-establishment of unlicensed buildings on irrigation channels or road reserves,” he concluded.
