A fire has ravaged dozens of stalls at Pasar Bayat in Bayat District, Klaten, Central Java, affecting 101 traders. Total losses are estimated to be between Rp 2 billion and Rp 3 billion.

Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo stated that the losses were reported to be in the range of Rp 2 billion to Rp 3 billion, as the fire impacted 101 traders selling various goods, including groceries and clothing.

Hamenang said he and relevant officials visited the location to assess the impact of the fire. He added that efforts were being made to mitigate the problems so that traders could resume selling as soon as possible. The area was still cordoned off by police, and authorities were awaiting a crime scene investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

One trader, a middle-aged woman named Harini, was seen crying in front of the regent. She reported that her entire grocery stock, valued at hundreds of millions of rupiah, was destroyed, along with Rp 50 million in cash kept in a cupboard at her stall.
