Jakarta — Jakarta’s Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has announced that 101 shopping centres across the capital will participate in the “Jakarta Festive Wonder” programme during Ramadan 2026.

“The shopping centres participating in Jakarta Festive Wonder with discount offerings number 101,” Pramono said whilst opening the Jakarta Ramadan Festival at Bundaran HI in Central Jakarta on Friday.

According to him, this figure is considerably higher than during last year’s Christmas period. Pramono noted that the duration of this campaign will also be longer than the Christmas programme.

Residents will be able to enjoy discounts of up to 70 per cent through the programme.

According to Pramono, the “Jakarta Festive Wonder” programme during Ramadan forms part of the provincial government’s efforts to encourage residents to celebrate Eid in Jakarta through various convenience measures and economic incentives.

The “Jakarta Festive Wonder” programme this time carries the theme “Safe Shopping, Controlled Prices, Blessed Eid” with a focus on maintaining price stability for essential goods, increasing residents’ purchasing power, and driving activity in the retail sector and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (UMKM).

The series of activities is scheduled to run throughout March 2026, implemented at shopping centres across five administrative cities and one regency in Jakarta, as well as at strategic locations such as City Hall, the office of the city administrator, MRT stations, and district offices.

The Jakarta government is targeting a minimum 20 per cent increase in retail transactions during the Ramadan period.

Pramono also emphasised that the provincial government is working to ensure public comfort throughout Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr, including plans to provide free public transport during Eid.

The government hopes the programme will strengthen economic activity whilst attracting residents to celebrate the Eid holiday in Jakarta.
