101 People Arrested for Planning to Cause Disturbances During Labour Demonstration at DPR, Majority from Outside Jakarta

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A total of 101 people who were secured during the May Day action at the DPR/MPR RI building in Jakarta on Friday (1/5/2026) are mostly from outside Jakarta.

Director of General Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Iman Imanuddin, stated that the data was obtained from initial tabulation results.

In addition to their places of origin, Iman also revealed that the age range of the secured individuals is between 20 and 35 years.

“Regarding whether they are structured or trained, we are still conducting further investigations. Because their initial statements indicate that they are partial groups who arrived sporadically,” Iman said.

He emphasised that his side is still probing the possibility of a wider network behind the 101 secured individuals.

“Regarding intellectual figures, of course, we will not stop here in conducting investigations. We will delve into the sources of their funding,” he added.

Currently, the 101 individuals are undergoing examinations for further probing.

Iman added that his side has also coordinated with the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) to ensure their rights during the examination process.
