100 Pilot Candidates Advance to Academic Test for South Sulawesi Scholarship at PPI Curug

One hundred pilot candidates who passed the administrative and psychological test stages are now taking academic ability tests to compete for 20 scholarships at the Indonesian Aviation Polytechnic (PPI) Curug, provided by the South Sulawesi Provincial Government. This scholarship programme is one of the policies of South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman and Deputy Governor Fatmawati Rusdi to expand access to higher education and prepare superior human resources in the air transportation sector. Samsuddin, Head of the Scholarship Working Team at the People’s Welfare Bureau of the South Sulawesi Regional Secretariat, stated in Makassar on Tuesday that all educational costs for successful candidates will be fully covered by the South Sulawesi Provincial Government. “This year, in accordance with the Governor’s policy conveyed to the public, the South Sulawesi Provincial Government is providing full scholarships to prospective cadets who pass the selection for PPI Curug,” said Samsuddin. He explained that the selection series, conducted jointly with PPI Curug, has been ongoing for a week. After completing the psychological tests, participants are now taking academic ability tests before proceeding to interviews and physical fitness tests. Out of 196 initial participants, 100 have advanced to the academic test stage, with the tests divided into two sessions of 50 participants each. Gilang Trio Putra, Academic Administration Coordinator at PPI Curug, explained that all selection stages are carried out in stages to ensure participants meet academic, physical, and health standards before commencing aviation education. Following the psychological and academic tests, participants will undergo interviews and initial physical examinations, including colour blindness tests, height and weight measurements, before undergoing comprehensive medical examinations in Jakarta. “The top 20 participants will be selected to continue the selection process at PPI Curug. They will undergo health tests and flight aptitude tests to measure their basic abilities as prospective flight cadets,” Gilang clarified. The scholarship programme has received a positive response from participants, including Andi Miftahul Khair, a student from SMA Negeri 1 Sinjai, who said he felt more motivated after advancing to the academic test stage. “Initially I was nervous about facing the interviewers directly. But after learning my name was among the 100 participants advancing to the next stage, I became more motivated to keep fighting and not give up,” he said.
