100 kiosks in S. Jakarta seized

The 100 kiosks were confiscated in an integrated operation led by Vice Mayor Zainuddin on Sunday.
"The operation was launched with the aim of reminding stubborn sidewalks vendors that their selling along the sidewalks is hindering traffic," Zainuddin was quoted by Antara as saying.
Lukman, the South Jakarta mayoralty spokesman, said that the vendors whose kiosks were confiscated are obliged to pay a fine of Rp 50,000 (US$22.70) each or to face a jail term of one month at the maximum.
During the operation Zainuddin was accompanied by Nur A. Latif, head of the mayoralty's sanitation office, Rochadi, head of public works office, Bubung Burhana, head of Land Transportation and Traffic office and Tagor, head of the parks office. (hhr)
