100 Christian and Catholic Religious Affairs Civil Servants Prepared to Perform Choir at Monas
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced that 100 civil servants (ASN) from the Directorate General of Christian and Catholic Community Guidance are prepared to perform national songs during the ‘Zikir and National Prayer’ event at Monas this Saturday. This choral performance is part of a series of events involving interfaith leaders as a collective effort to welcome the Independence Month of the Republic of Indonesia.
“The group will sing Indonesia Raya along with two spiritual songs with a nationalistic theme, namely ‘Padamu Negeri’ and ‘Doa Kami’. There are 100 personnel in total,” stated the Director General of Catholic Community Guidance, Suparman, from Jakarta on Saturday.
Echoing this, the Director General of Christian Community Guidance, Jeane Marie Tulung, noted that the choir members have undergone several rehearsals and are generally ready for the main event. “So far, the choir’s preparation has been good because they have practiced several times. The choir members are all civil servants from the Christian and Catholic Community Guidance Directorates; they are not external performers, but all from the Ministry of Religious Affairs,” Jeane added.
Previously, the Ministry of Religious Affairs estimated that the ‘Zikir and National Prayer’ event, scheduled for Saturday, 1 August 2026, at the Monas Field in Jakarta, will be attended by approximately 100,000 people from various regions across Indonesia.
“We urge participants to arrive early to avoid congestion before the event begins,” said the Director of Islamic Religious Information at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Muchlis M. Hanafi. Muchlis added that given the expected attendance of hundreds of thousands, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, as the organiser, is continuing to finalise preparations through cross-ministerial and inter-agency coordination to ensure the event is safe, orderly, smooth, and solemn.
